Hi...
I apologize if this is a repost, but I can't seem to find my original post
on search, although my older posts show up fine...
Our company uses a specific numbering format for some of our documents.
Since we re-use a lot of the text, it involves a fair amount of copying and
pasting up and down, and I'd love it if the automatic numbering would work
for me.
Each title level is a separate style - Heading 1 through Heading 5.
1
1.1
1.2
1.2.1
1.2.2
2
2.1
2.1.1
2.2
2.2.1
2.2.1.1
and so on...
When I use the "Numbering" feature on headers, I get the following:
1
1.1
1.2
1.2.1
1.2.2
2
1.3
1.2.3
1.4
1.2.4
2.2.1.1
As in, each header level doesn't "break" at the presence of header text of a
different style above it. (Which is logical...)
Is there a way to do this that is easier than just doing all the copying and
pasting around, and then manually renumbering the documents? (Bear in mind
they can be a hundred pages or so, with hundreds of subsections...)
It just seems there must be a template to do this, as many documents do this.
So many documents have formats like:
1
1.a
1.a.i
1.a.ii
That there must be a way to do it!
