specified procedure cannot be found using office 2007 products

Recently, when I try to open an office document, excel spreadsheet,
powerpoint presentation, I get a message "The specified procedure cannot be
found". I can open the program from my desktop and then open the document,
but I can not open it simply by double clicking the document. Any help? I
have Student Office 2007 and Windows Vista.
