Speech in Microsoft Word

I recently had to reinstall Office XP. Once reinstalled,
everything works fine, apart from the Language Bar is no
longer available. This means that when I click Speech in
Word, nothing happens at all. In Control Panel, under Text
Services, the Language Bar button is disabled. I've tried
repairing the current installation but the same problem
occurs, and I also can't find any articles or downloads on
the Microsoft Site.

I'm running Windows Me, 1.7.Ghz P4, 512MB RAM

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Found this:
If you do not see the Language bar in your program, you may not have the Office XP
Speech or Handwriting feature installed. To install the Speech or Handwriting
feature, do the following:

1.. Quit all programs.
2.. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Windows Control Panel.
3.. Do one of the following:
a.. For Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition: In the Currently installed
programs box, click the name of your program, and then click the Change button.

b.. For Windows 98 and Windows NT® 4.0: On the Install/Uninstall tab, click the
name of your program, and then click the Add/Remove button.
4.. In the program setup dialog box, select Add or Remove Features, and then click
Next.
5.. In the Features to install list, click the plus sign next to Office Shared
Features, then click the plus sign next to Alternate User Input.
6.. Click the icon next to Speech and then click Run from My Computer.
There is a download that you might find interesting

Thanks for your reply.

Both Speech and Handwriting under Alternative User Inputs
are already on my system - I had tried reinstalling them
already. The problem seems to be that I don't have a
language bar. In Control Panel, Text Services, the
Language Bar button is disabled.

Thanks for providing the link, but it seems to be
describing entering Asian characters using a standard
keyboard. I think I need to reinstall the Language bar.

Any more suggestions?
