speech recognition and Error 1706

I don't know what s happened but in my Words XP I am keep getting
message" Can not install Speech Recognition program, do you want to
repair y/n?" and no matter i say yes or no then I ger Error 1706:
Setup cannot find required files..." Please advise as it is stopping
my works. Thanks a lot

Generally, 1706 error is Office not being able to find the original CD to fix a problem, in the original installation location (CD
drive).

If you're not using the Office XP Speech recognition feature you can set its status to 'Not Available' through the Microsoft Office
XP listing in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel, but you'll also need the original CD (or installation point) to do
that as well.

You may want to look in the control panel (Regional settings if Windows XP) to turn off the Dictation/Speech language features
there. Than can sometimes stop the request.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH BOB. IT WORKED. and was great relief to me. As
you suggested I went to control panel (Regional settings if Windows
XP) to turn off the Dictation/Speech language features. Appreciate
your great help.
