Speech recognition control panel does not show?

Speech recognition control icon does not show on my
desktop or when I open word. Ever when I try to activate
in work?

What do I do?

I'm using window XP Pro. and Office 2002

Go to Tools on the menu bar and click on Speech.
See if that works. Look for options to keep the
language bar around on the language bar itself.
Good luck.

If you are using a USB microphone, as I am,
you may have additional problems. It tries
to "configure" the microphone which can't
be done, and thus refuses any input.
