speech recognition error problem

CED

I keep getting this error message while using speech recognition: "SAPISVR 5
has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." I have not been able to figure out what causes this error,
what it means, or how to correct it. It is seriously disruptive to my work,
as it happens every few minutes, and usually results in Word itself crashing.
There is apparently no information online on this problem and no available
download, as far as I can tell. Can anyone help me?

Just to say I get the exact same thing - which is why I've come onto this
forum looking for help. I have a brand new laptop loaded with RAM and etc.,
and have imported my speech file from my previous laptop. It shouldn't be a
system resource issue -- can anyone help? Thanks!

Sometimes this can happen beause of a corrupted user recognition profile.
The only "solution" I've seen so far is to create a new recognition profile.
In the language bar, Tools - Options - Advanced Speech - Speech Recognition
tab, New.

For starters, you might create a new profile and see if the problem occurs
when using it. If not, then there's the answer. If you do end up having to
go that route to fix the problem, once you have things set up the way you
like, make sure you back up your settings. That way, if the problem recurs,
you won't have so many wheels to reinvent. A backup utility is referenced
here:

thank you -- I had a backup of my speech file and I have RE-imported it, and
stability seems to be better, although it's still seems to crash Once a day.
Perhaps the problem is with the speech profile I imported. I'll try to
create a brand new one and see if the problem happens again, although I don't
relish the thought of training my profile from scratch! Anyway thank you for
your help.
