Speech recognition in Office 2003 French version

Hi,
I have tried to install speech recognition following the numerous
instructions I found in this news group but it does not work. I cannot find
any Speech command in the menu nor in the control panel. I suppose that the
French version of Office 2003 (Standard - Students and teachers) has
something to do with it. But I cannot find any confirmation of that.
I have bought Access 2003 (English) and Visio 2003 (French) separately but
that does not help.
Will I have to buy Word 2003 (English) to be able to use the feature?
I use Windows XP Professional SP2 (French).
Thanks.

Hi Jac,

The MS Office Dictation feature was only active in English(U.S.), Chinese and Japanese and may have only been included in those
editions. It was separated from the product after the 2003 edition and is now a part of the Windows Vista product set.

In Add/Remove Prrgrams in the Windows (XP) control panel check to see if there is a listing for 'Alternative input' that includes
the English language proofing tools and the Speech Recognition/Dictation feature.

Hi Bob,
I did look for any kind of option that could be installed through the
Control panel via the Add/Remove programs. There is nothing like the English
language proofing tools and the Speech Recognition/Dictation feature. All I
can find is some optical recognition option. I guess you are right about the
speech recognition feature beeing only available in English (U.S.), Chinese
and Japanese.
I will think it over and decide what to do later on.
Thank you for your reply. I helps.
Have a good day.
