Speech recognition uses too much of my CPU

All I need out of speech recognition is just that, to be able to dictate to
Access, Word, and Outlook, but ever since I installed Office 2003XP Pro my
computer my PC has slowed down noticeably. Does it have to run from start up
or can I launch it from an office program? Is there a way to trim back some
of the features and languages that I won't use in order to speed up my PC? My
PC is a Dell 2Gig P4 w/ a gig of ddr ram and an NVidia graphics adapter. At
the same time I started using the speech recognition I started using a
bluetooth headset with a usb Bluetooth dongle and software. I have updated
office to SP1 and the driver and software for the afforementioned devices are
the latest and greatest. I need my PC to run fast as I do a great deal of
high end music production on it. Help!
