speech recognition will not run in word doc. but will work here

I am unable to get speech recognition to work in a word document. it will not
start to run.however it will work here. i have used it on the microsoft
online site as well. any ideas why it will not start in a word document? i
also have staroffice on my pc, could this be a problem?

Is this the Speech Recognition (dictation) module that ships with Office XP and Office 2003 or a separate one?

If you use Tools=>Speech in Word is the dictation choice available (U.S. English only)?
