Speech Recognition

Reading below I understand speech recognition is turned over to Vista. If
you do not have Vista on your system (I have XP), is there an add on that
will install speech recognition for word 2007?

G'Day Ludwig,

Even in Windows Xp, Speech Recognition is properly part of Windows
since it is a set of services available to programs other that Office.

It was never supplied with Windows, however, but was supplied with
Office.

The following was provided by "Hector" in the THIS Group (13 March) ....

<<
Please first go to the following link to download and install speech
engine:

*Speech SDK 5.1*
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...97-40a7-453f-b0ee-6583171b4530&DisplayLang=en

After that, please refer to the following link to learn how to use speech
recognition.

For more information, please read the article below:

I have not tested it since I already had the Speech Engine (from Office 2003),
and this works perfectly with Office 2007.

Pat,

I had Office XP and have upgraded to Office 2007 to find Speech Recognition
not part of it.

Hi Ludwig,

IF you installed the Speech engine with Office Xp THEN
It is still installed ...
Right-Click any blank part of the Windows Taskbar
Point to 'Toolbars' then Click 'Language bar'
(The Language bar will show on the Taskbar)
Right-Click the Language bar and Click 'Restore Language bar'
Position it at the top of your Screen towards the right
(It will sit over the title bars of Program Windows)
Use the Language bar to control the options as you choose ...
END IF

Hi Ludwig,

OK! So you know that Speech Recognition IS installed.

Please ensure that it is properly set up - with the Language bar on the
Taskbar:
Right-Click the LB and Click 'Settings ...'
On the 'Settings' tab Click 'Language Bar ...' (button - bottom left)
'Show the Language bar on the desktop' (CHECK)
'Show ... transparent ...' UNCHECK
'Show additional ...' UNCHECK
'Show text labels ...' CHECK
OK
OK
