speech recognition

Hi -- read that I should have built-in speech
recognition, but can't seem to activate it without buying
the Student and Teachers software. Am I missing
something, or was the information I read just wrong? I am
running XP Home with Word 2002. Please advise, and many
thanks.

Hi Audrey,

MS Word 2002 standalone has the optional speech to text
feature as the full MS Office suite products. It's an optional
install item 'Alternative Input' that you can access through
Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel under Microsoft
Word 2002/Office XP provided you have enough memory and a PC of
over 400MHz speed.
