I've read all the support documents at microsoft.com and have followed all
instructions. I read the problems posted here with speech recognition and am
envious. I wish I could USE the program, let alone have problems or
complaints. Sigh. I have Office XP for Students and when I try to use the
speech recognition features, my CPU goes crazy and everything screeches to a
halt. There are no error messages. What could be the problem? I use
Creative's Audigy sound card and my microphone is a Logitec. I used the
speech recognition a few times and even trained and the words came out on the
screen (or similar words since I'm a new user), then nothing. Yes, the
buttons are turned on on the language bar. Yes, speech is checked in the
Word tools menu. Yes, the microphone box is on on the language bar. Testing
it works fine in the wizards. I even used the wizard to check to see if it
was recording. Yes, the papaya tastes great.
I uninstalled Norton to see if there was a conflict, but the problem
remained. I reinstalled speech using my Office disk but it would not remove
it first as I requested. I am at my wits end and cannot figure this out.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
