Spell Check and Abbreviations

In Word 2000, 2002 and 2003 spell check always seems to ask me about common
abbreviations, i.e., parts of abbreviations. E.g., the initial "e" and then
the "g" in "e.g." Or the initial "i" then the "e" in "i.e." Maybe that is
a little hifallutin for Spell Check and it is trying to tell me something.
Like maybe "Get a life." But how about "p" and then "m" as in 12:25 p.m.?
Same thing with "a.m." Any ideas?

Uhm... I don't get it.
The spell checker does not check individual letters or words which are
single letters, ever. There is no way to get it to do so that I know. This
is because they are commonly used in numbering.

Are you getting red lines under these? (If not red, perhaps the Grammar
checker or designation as a Smart Tag.) Are they wavy lines? (If not,
perhaps you have Track Changes switched on.)
