Spell check doesn't work

Greetings.
I copied a web document into Word and several common words (like "five"
and "justified") are highlighted as misspelled; however, they are not
misspelled, nor are they among the available choices in my spell check
(either using the spell check function, or control - click on the
word). Any idea what's going on and how to remedy it?
