Spell check in Outlook

Hi, wonder if anyone can help me, please. My spell check in outlook insists
on reverting to US Spelling. I have done the following
1. the dictionary in tools/options/spelling is set to UK English
2. the language within messages in tools/language/set language is set to UK
English
3. the box in the same menu for "detect original language" is unchecked.

Despite the above, spell check insists on correcting English spellings and
the final check before sending always come up as US English. Does anyone know
what I have missed?
