Spell Check in WORD

HELP,
I just purchased my Mac Book about two weeks ago and I have been using
Office 04. The automatic spell check doesn't work. I get no red
squiggly lines, but it will auto correct. I have went to prefrences
and make sure the spell check was on. I am not sure what to do, but it
is getting very aggravating having to email something to my husband
Dell just to get the documnt spell checked.
