Spell Check not catching error

If I don't put a space after a comma, spell check does not catch it. For
example, "Hi,Jim". The missing space between the comma and Jim does not get
caught by my spell check either in Outlook or Word. Can anyone give me any
help? I have checked the dictionary and the options and I can't find were
this may be happening
