Spell Check not working in Word 2007

I thought it was strange word wasn't correcting any spelling errors while
writing my paper tonight. I didn't catch some errors until I was proof
reading my paper. I tried to open a new document and paste the text
containing a known misspelled word and spell check still didn't catch it. So
I opened WordPerfect and pasted the text into that program and it brought up
errors I didn't even catch in proof reading it. Any one have any ideas on how
to fix this? Should I uninstall word and reinstall it?

Thanks, Jay. I had the same problem with Word not recognizing misspelled
words, and I referred to the link you provided below. The solution that
worked for me was the registry edit to remove the
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing
Tools\1.0\Override" key. I did not have to restart my computer, however, just
close out Word and re-open it. Now spelling and auto-correction are working
as they should.
