spell check not working on Office 2003

Spell check does not appear to be working in Office 2003. Obviously
misspelled words are not found even when I run a manual check. It does find
grammatical and style problems but not misspelled words.

Select one of the words that is obviously misspelled and go to Tools |
Language | Set Language. What language is selected? Is the "Do not check
spelling or grammar" box checked? Alternatively, select the entire document
(Ctrl+A), open the Set Language dialog and make sure the correct language is
selected and "Do not check spelling or grammar" is not checked. It's a good
idea to clear the check box for "Detect language automatically," too.
