Spell check removes leading tabs

When I correct a misspelled word while running Spell Check and that
word is part of a paragraph with two tabs at the beginning, the leading
tabs are deleted.

(I normally use first line indent as part of a style and avoid leading
tabs, but in this particular type of document that's not possible.)

Is this happening to anyone else? Ideas?

Never seen this, just did a quick check and did not reproduce.

What happens if you tell it to check Spelling but not grammar?

Does this happen in all documents? Can you recreate it in other documents?

What version of Word and OS?

Spell check is set to check spelling and not check grammar.
Yes, it happens in all documents.
Word ver. 11.2 (part of Office 2004 Mac), Mac OS X ver. 10.4.2 with all
updates.
