Spell check settings not being saved.

When I attempt to set several spell checking options (e.g., to Ignore Words
in Uppercase) the settings do not remain the next time I open MS Word. This
problem surfaced with a couple of new computers I have been using at work &
of course the IT folks can't figure it out. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
