Spell check won't work in Word 2004 for mac

Hi,
I installed Tiger a few months ago, and sometime in the interim my
spell checker has stopped working, even though it says "spell check has
found no errors". Any help on what files may be corrupted? I have
tried trashing prefs for Word and Office, and trashing dictionary files
after copying to new ones but nothgin has worked.
