Spell check

Why would spell check not pick up an incorrect spelling, for instance
Teasurer's? Maybe in the past it has been accepted as correct, if so how
does one change this?

TIA

B.W.

Just noticed it picks it up here in the email but not in a word doc that is
emailed to me?

Assuming Word 2003... Tools - Options - Spelling & Grammar - Custom
Dictionaries - select Custom.dic - click Modify - find/select the word in
the list and click Delete - click OK.

In Word 2007, Office - Word Options - Proofing tab - Custom Dictionaries -
etc.

If spell check is catching it in new documents but not in the specific
document you are dealing with, Ctrl+A to select the entire document, then go
to Tools | Language | Set Language and clear the box for "Do not check
spelling or grammar."

Thank you both for those helpful pieces of information. The word did not
appear in my custom dictionary and it was picked up in the original doc by
using the other suggestion from Suzanne. Does this mean that the friend
sending me this document has some incorrect setting in their word set up?
She has mentioned that her spell check doesn't seem to work correctly.

It means that the friend who sent you the document had, one way or another,
applied "no proofing" format to the document, which would account for the
spelling checker not working properly. The same fix that worked for you
would work for her on the given document, but likely she needs to make the
change in Normal.dot as well. See the parts about language at

Hi Suzanne, I have the same problem, my spell check does not work, it goes
through the motions but says all words all spelled correctly when I know they
are not. I do not have a "Tools" choice on my Word 2007? What do I do?

I believe you've now gotten the step-by-step in your other thread on this
subject.
