Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) does not start at the beginning of my document. Why?

Is the insertion point at the beginning of the document when you start the
Spell Check? Checking begins at the insertion point. Also, if you have a
passage selected only that passage will be checked.

Yes the cursor was at the beginning of the document. I don't know why it doesn't check it, but I found something on the internet which told me I needed to highlight the entire document, then do some other things, (which I don't remember now), and it worked. Go figure.

What the source probably suggested was to Select All then use Tools>
Language to apply the appropriate Language format to the text. Word's Spell
Check does not check spelling/grammar on text formatted as a language for
which the program doesn't have Proofing Tools.
