Spell checker does not work

I find that I have set all the correct options in the document and the spell
checker still does not show the wrongly spelled words, neither choices to
correct them.
Same word in other doc shows spelling errors.

Is there a way to "repair" the document? It seems that the same as in
previous versions of Word the docs gets corrupted (same old design bugs).

I general I find Word has many new interesting flashy features and it is
same or worse quality than before. Why they don't give the team to the makers
of Excel? Maybe it would help. Excel... still the best quality of the MS
suite.

I assume from you first sentence that means you have the settings for Check
spelling and grammar as you type selected.
I don't think you have a bug or corrupted document only that possibly your
styles may have "Do not check spelling or grammar" as part of their makeup.
Check your styles for this setting, also it is usually best to deactviate
"Detect Language" as well.
Also before doing a spell check on your document, clear all possible
occurances of this by Ctrl+A, double click the Language on bottom bar, Select
the language you do want (just to be sure), deselect "Do not check..." and
"Detect language auto..." then do the spell check. This will cancel any
"ignores" you may have done in previous spell checks but at least you will
hit any/all that have slipped under the net.
