Spell Checker not staying on / not working

When I was writing an important letter yesterday, I noticed after I sent it that the spell checker was not working.

I went into the preferences and turned it back on, clicked ok and typed a test email. The errors were still there. I went back into preferences and noticed that all the boxes were unchecked again in spell checker.

So that is the issue, every time I turn it on, it turns right back off once I hi "Ok". Any ideas would be welcome. I have ran the latest updaters on both the OS and latest Office updates as well. Any help would be great!

it could be a corrupted preference file.
SInce there is very little in there (the settings for your accounts are
NOT there), you could consider trashing the file and relaunching
Entourage to re-set the options.
