Spell checker randomly appears

I have recently upgraded to Office 2003 and have been having problems with
the spell checker. The spell checker will randomly appear while I'm typing
in Word, Excel, or Office despite turning off everything I can find that has
anything to do with spell checker, grammer checker, and auto correct. It is
very frustrating to have this window keep constantly popping up when I'm
trying to write.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I might be missing or what else I
should turn off?
