Spell checker

There seems to be a fundamental bug in the spell checker: I'm using
W2000 with language set to German.

I'm quoting and writing a lot of text in OneNote in English. Though I
set the Language to English, the spell checker ignores it and makes
suggestions in German.

Is there any setting to correct this?

Sorry, I'm wrong: it is not the spell checker, this one works correctly,
it is the auto correction feature which inserts german corrections into
English text.
