Spell Checking

Since I upgraded to Office 2004 for Mac, I no longer see red squiggles
underlining misspelled words. I believe the preferences are set
correctly and Spelling under the Toolbar doesn't help.

Any thoughts?.

Sorry to dwell on the obvious, but have you actually checked the prefs to
make certain they are correctly set?:) Your wording at least suggests that
perhaps you haven't, and there are 2 of concern. Take a look at
WordMenu>Preferences>Spelling & Grammar to be certain that there *is* a
check for Check Spelling as You Type and that there is *not* a check in the
Hide Spelling Errors in this Document box.

If the status of those boxes is correct, what happens when you run the
regular Spelling Checker?

Thanks, CyberTaz, but the Prefs are set as you indicated. And when I
run the Spelling Checker it says all is correct -- even purposely
misspelled words.

Hi Ally -

Thanks for checking, but if that is the case your issue is probably
addressed here:

http://word.mvps.org/mac/SpellCheck.html

including the Note: following item 7. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the help. Turning off Word 5.1 Menus enabled the
Tools/Language dialog box, permitting me to mark the whole document as
US English. Problem appears to be solved.
