Spell Grammar Checking

Shubho

Hi,
When I insert custom words in MS Word and then do 'add to dictionary' to
remove the red/green markings, is there a way to turn off the markings for
the same words in other machines too?
What I am trying to do is have a Spell-Grammar-mark free document for
everyone.

Words you add to your custom dictionary will not be added to
other people's custom dictionaries, so Word will flag those words
as misspelled when other people open the document. One way
around this problem is to select all of the text and click on
Tools | Language | Set Language | check the "Do not check
spelling or grammar" box | OK.

A less drastic approach is to check "Hide spelling errors in this document"
on the Spelling & Grammar tab of Tools | Options.

I think this is a user-specific setting that won't be honored
"when other people open the document".

No, it is saved with the document. If it were an environment setting, it
would not say "in this document." Here's the run-down:

1. Clear the "Check spelling as you type" box on the Spelling & Grammar tab
of Tools | Options: This setting affects all documents on the given system.
Misspellings are not marked with wavy lines, but the spelling checker can be
run manually.

2. Check the "Hide spelling errors in this document" box: Misspellings in
the given document are not marked, but the spelling checker can be run
manually. This setting doesn't affect other documents. It is saved with the
specific document and travels with it. It is, however, all or nothing--can't
be applied selectively.

3. Format text with "Do not check spelling or grammar." Text formatted this
way *cannot* be spell-checked. If the entire document is formatted this way,
no spell check is possible. Formatting affects only the selected text in a
given document. This formatting is saved with the document.
