Spellcheck doesn't work W2002

The spellchecker finds incorrectly spelled words in a document, but does not
offer any suggested corrections. It says 'not in dictionary'. This is with
every document and every word for which corrections are offered. The
dictionary file is thereon the HD, as I assumed since it is finding incorrect
words. The thesaurus works, don't know if they're related.....

This is a new computer that I just loaded W2002 into.

Is "Always suggest corrections" activated in Tools/options/Spelling and Grammar?
