spellcheck in word 2003 not working

Word 2003 spell check isn't working. Spell check is turned on, i've selected
all set language and unchecked detect language automatically, unchecked the
don't check spelling box, copied text to new document tried again still no
luck, closed word reopened tried again. HELP!!!!

Is spelling not working at all--or just for this particular text? What
happens if you type fresh text in a brand new document. Does spelling Work
there? From what you're saying, I assume you've verified Tools - Options -
Spelling & Grammar, and ensured that Hide Spelling Errors in this Document
is not checked, and Check spelling as you type is checked.

What happens if you start Word in safe mode? Press Ctrl as Word is starting,
and click Yes to confirm starting in safe mode. Does spelling work now?

Something else to try: Help - Detect and Repair.
