Hello,
This is a pretty basic question, but I cannot figure out how to use the Spelling and Grammar check keyboard shortcut on my Mac (without using the Tools menu). I remember it was F7 on my PC, but I cannot figure out what characters the Mac is telling me to use. I see a slanty thing, a dash, Command and L. What do I push for the first two keys? I hope I worded this intelligibly...

Hello, and welcome to both Mac & the newsgroups -

On the Mac the "slanty thing" (⌥) represents the Option Key. Note that the
"dash" is actually a part of that symbol, so the stroke to run Spell Check
is Option+Command+L in Word.

If you're new to Mac you might want to have a look in Mac Help. There isn't
really a whole lot you need to "figure out" - most everything is pretty well
explained, at least as far as the basics. The Help within each program is
also one of the first places to seek answers.

Some info that may be useful for a "switcher" :)

Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other culture shock issues to
overcome - many of the participants here have been using Office on both
Window & Mac systems for some time.
