SpellCheck-Shouldn't report vs as error when followed by a period

J

John Beharry

In Spellcheck if you have "vs" (for Verses), spell check will report it as
an error and suggest replacing with "vs."

Then if you run spell check again later on the same doc, it will again point
out "vs" and suggest "vs." even though the sentence already has "vs."

That would (if suggested change was approved) become "vs.."

And Spell Check would still pick it up again the next time wanting it to
become "vs..." as it does not see the period at all following the "vs"

Thanks,
John Beharry

I'm not seeing that here (Word 2003). If I correct vs to vs., Word no longer
sees it as an error.

I have seen it on multiple PCs here.

In fact my PC had Office 2003 reinstalled the other day to test something
unrealted) and the issue with "vs" is unchanged.

All Office 2003 updates are installed.

Thanks,

I'd suggest that you check the Custom Dictionary to make sure that there
isn't a rogue entry for vs entered. I certainly see as Suzanne reports: if I
enter vs or vss, then the spell checker suggests vs. or vss. as it should.

This happens for Mr. where Spellcheck corrects and finds it again. I read
once that this is caused from left over issues from upgrading from Office
2005 or 2007 or which ever annuity stream MS created. ssdd. Let me know if
anyone ever fixes this stupid issue

This happneds with "Mr." "Ms." Mrs." etc. I read somewhere that it is an
outstanding issue from upgrading from Office pre Office 2000. I think it is a
left over Office 1997 issue or even 1995. I had been upgrading all along.

I wish they would fix it cause I don't want to format and start over with a
clean install of 2003. This costs me 1,000's of seconds. Time is Money.
