SPELLCHECK

My spellcheck reverts to English(US) ALL of the time -- -even after I have
reset via "Tools".
I only have ONE language set -- UK English and I am using an English keyboard.
Frustration is NOT the word!

Depending on what is exactly happening, their can be several problems and
solutions.
To start see the following article concerning Languages in Office, not just
Word.
http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm
Also see the following article about how Spellcheck works (or doesn't).
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/MasterSpellCheck.htm

Also if your problem is that the spellcheck allows US spellings and you want
UK spellings, see the foolowing article on how to dis-allow certain words.
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/ExcludeWordFromDic.htm

Come back if you still have problems
All the best

Welcome to the club.

IMHO the spelling checker is a bit... recalcitrant.

What I do when it recalcitrates is this:

1) hihghlight the whole text in the doc using CTRL-A

2) go to REVIEW-PROOFING-SET LANGUAGE and select the right language.
Also uncheck/ungray DO NOT CHECK SPELLING AND GRAMMAR.

3) Go to WORD OPTIONS-PROOFING and uncheck HIDE SPELLING ERRORS and HIDE
GRAMMAR ERRORS and the click on CHECK DOCUMENT.

That works for me. Only I have to do it every 2 or 3 pages if my doc is
multilingual because the wonderful software goes with a "too many
spelling errors". It is recalcitrant by design.

But if you take the trouble to mark all the different languages that
occur, the spellchecker will skip over all the passages not marked
(say) English (UK).

Or you can make a style including "Do not check spelling ..." and use
it for all the different foreign words.
