Hi ,
I am using form text fields in my document. This is a
template. I would like to use the feature of spellchecking
in those fields.
I found one such example from one of the postings here.
The link is the following.
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/SpellcheckProtectDoc.ht
m
I downloaded the example from that site and I found one
macro named RunSpellcheck.
I used that macro in my template.
But its not working.
Can you please help me find out where im goin wrong.
I really appreciate your help.

Hi,

One post is enough.

You need to give far more detail. That macro is the result of hundreds of
hours of work and it does work for others. However, it is complex.

What version of Word are you using?

When you say it is not working, what, exactly, do you mean? What did you do
to install the macro? How are you trying to get it to run? What happens when
you try? Are you trying to run it from within the visual basic explorer
(Alt-F11)? The first thing I would try is to go into the vbe, find the
macro, and press F5 to run it. Does it work if you do that? If not, use F8
to step through it and figure out where it breaks down.

Hi Charles,
I did use that exact solution and it works great! As a newbie
programmer I did have one problem. I put the module into a .dot
template I have made. I distribute that .dot to a range of users.
When I emailed it to myself from home to my worksite, I tried it and
found that I could not get the menu bar to display my command button
or to run my macro unless I unprotected the document, then did tools,
customize and switched from "normal.dot" to "myproject.dot". If I
saved the module in normal then of course it worked all the time...
including on every word document I opened.

How do I get the macro button to show only in my project.dot without
having to modify normal.dot?

Nick.

First, I don't use command buttons (ActiveX controls). I use buttons on
custom toolbars.

If you put such a toolbar in a template, it will be available to documents
based on the template. If you place it in a global template, it will be
available in all documents. You should not have to use customize in the
protected document to get access to such a toolbar.

See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc.

Charles...
That did the trick. Fantastic. Also that's a great website! I've
been there an hour already tonight.

Thank you,
Nick.
