Spelling and Grammar question (Word 2003)

O

Octavio

My spelling and Grammar seem not to be working.

It has told me before that it is in Dutch (?). Not sure why, possibly
because I communicated with a Dutch friend a long time ago and he send to
me information, etc.

Now, when I try to do a spell check of my English wittings I get dialogs
that the spell check has finished, etc., but the misspelled words are still
there, so it seems to me that it is not checking anything of what I wrote in
English.

Where do I check what kind of spell checker I have (I.e., the language), and
also, where do I make American English, which is what I use, the Default?

Thanks in advance.

SelectAll (Ctrl+A) and then use Tools, Languages, Set Languages. Select
English (US) and make sure that both check boxes at the bottom of that
dialog are clear, then press DEFAULT. When you close Word. make sure to
answer YES to the save to global template question.

This should correct that document and any new documents. Other documents
that may have been switched to Dutch may need to be manually changed using
the same procedure (but without the need to press Default again).

If you never use any other language that English (US), if you go to Start,
MS Office, MS Office Tools, MS Office Languages, you can remove all other
languages so that only English (US) is active.

Thanks to you all. I found out that I had the Dutch Default in my Word
letter. I was able to change it there and the checker works in the letter
now.
If eventually you find an article that shows the path in Windows Vista
Ultimate, let me know.
