Does Onenote 2007 spellcheck, and are there formatting incompatabilities
between it and Word 2007?

OneNote does spellcheck.
What kind of formatting incompatibilities are you wondering about?
Considering that Word is a full fledged word processing program and
OneNote is not, there are certainly lots of things that Word can do that
OneNote cannot.

Are complicated formatted pages in Word editable in Onenote, and visa versa?
Does Onenote interface with the Windows Mail program?

OneNote mainly integrates with Outlook. I think in terms of Windows
Mail, it only lets you send notes via email with it and you don't get
any of the fancy stuff you can do in conjunction with Outlook.
You can copy & paste things between Word & OneNote, and you can also
export from OneNote to Word. "Complicated formatting" is rather vague,
but the likelihood that they will look the same in OneNote (if you don't
insert them as printouts) is low. Can you specify what kind of
formatting you mean? E.g. styles, tables, columns, etc?
