Spelling check error

when spell checking, get msg: "spelling file msspell3.dll or MSSP 232, dll
for English"
missing
when I go to tools, options, the tab for 'spelling & grammar' tab is gray
and cannot be clicked on.
The spell check does not pick up any mispelled words. Any suggestions?
