spelling checker stuck !!

Hi there,

i'm using office word 2003 and i have inserted on the toolbar two buttons
for checking grammar and spelling. But the problem is that my spelling
button is 'highlighted' ie. it is selected and when i click it again it
doesn't switch it's off. Unlike the grammar button which behaves as one
would expect. click it and it changes to on, click it again and it changes
to off.

So what the hell is going on with my spelling button. I can't switch it off.
So even incorrectly spelt words don't get the red squiggly underline.
