Spelling issue fixed, I hope. Now have letter wizard address format issue

Thanks to Beth and Daiya for being patient and bearing with me.
Unfortunately, I now have reason to avail upon you again, this time with an
address layout issue when using the letter wizard.

It lays out *MY* address with no problem at all. However, the recipient's
address, instead of being as I entered it, it ends up thus: -

NameAddressline1Addressline2TownCountyCountry

No punctuation or spacing, one line across the page. I then have to edit it
so that it's in the correct format. I never had this issue with 2003, this
seems to be something peculiar to 2004. Doesn't matter what layout I choose
from within the wizard, the result is the same.

Yes, I could start from scratch, however I prefer to use the wizard. It has
been this way since I installed Office. I've just been altering it manually,
but I'd *REALLY* like an answer as to why.

I've even removed and reinstalled Office - no joy.

Any ideas? I can forward a document to either of you if you think it will
help.

Thanks

Where are you getting the address from? The Office Address Book? Or just
typing it in?

What page design? What block style?

I'm getting strange effects - no gap (neither blank line nor space after)
between address and salutation. (I guess I can go modify the "Inside
Address" style to include space after for last para, or space before for
Salutation style, which might be easier.) Also in the wizard if I choose my
own work address from the Address Book instead of default address (which is
Home) as return address the Home address still appears in the wizard
·nothing in the preview) but does appear correctly as work address in the
letter itself. I also can't type into the search block in the Address Book
window - I have to scroll.

I do not have any problems with separate lines for the recipient's address
whether I use to enter it from the Address Book or type it into the Wizard.
Everything is on a separate line.

It's not an issue for me. Go check your "Inside Address" and "Inside Address
Name" styles in Format/Style. They should both contain "single spacing". If
you click "Modify" they should be using your default font, and be based on
(no style).

The Letter Wizard is a sort of suped-up template. (It must be a sort of
macro using a template). If your styles are correct above, it could be that
the Wizard or its template is corrupt. Which "page design" do you use?
that's really a template in Microsoft Office
2004/Templates/Letters-Envelopes. It could be that's corrupt, but I'm
guessing maybe your Inside Address Style was badly modified.
I've even removed and reinstalled Office - no joy.

That would only be useful if you used "Remove Office" in Microsoft Office
2004/Additional Tools/ folder. Did you? If you do that, then the Templates
will be recreated when you reinstall. If there was anything wrong with the
Letter template the the wizard used (or the wizard itself) it will be
created fresh on reinstall.
Any ideas? I can forward a document to either of you if you think it will
help.

Sorry, I should have said - put it down to tiredness. Both.

What page design? What block style?

Irrelevant - it doesn't matter what I choose.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing funny things.

Everything is on a separate line.

Then there's something peculiar with my Word - is yours fully updated? Mine
is, I'm wondering if this was caused by an update.

All that is correct. Set up exactly as you have just said.

I did. No joy. I love my Mac so much I'd never go back to my PC, but it's at
times like this, it's sorely tempting... ;o)

Oddly, now (after a couple of force-quits) "Inside Address" is now showing
it's based on "Normal +" and not showing any modifications of Normal style.
Very peculiar. But I suppose it comes down to the same thing, since it _is_
the same as Normal style. I took the opportunity to add 6 Pts. Space Before
to Inside Address Name style.
Then there's something peculiar with my Word - is yours fully updated? Mine

Yes, I have Word 2004 11.1.0.
All that is correct. Set up exactly as you have just said.

Well, try setting it to Normal Style and/or make any other modifications
you want. Then go check Normal style. (It's possible that if you use, say
Body Text style based on (no style) for most writing that that's OK but
maybe Normal style has become corrupt.)

OK. From within Word, go to File/Open, and browse to several of the
templates you frequently use with the letter wizard, like
Letter-Professional, Letter-Elegant, etc. or whatever you commonly use in
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Templates/Letters-Envelopes/ . Do not do
this from the Project Gallery, do it from File/Open.

Now click the ¶ button if it's not on. Do you see ¶ paragraph marks at the
end of every line in the Recipient address? You should. (If not, edit the
template to make lines where they should be, and save it.) Put the cursor
into the recipient address. Does the Formatting Palette show the style to be
Inside Address, Inside Address Name, etc? (In Letter-Elegant, which is all
in italic cursive, it will show Letter Recipient Address.) Check all these
styles, and any style they're based on. click Modify, and make sure they're
all Paragraph Styles, not Character Styles, with Single spacing. Aside from
the templates missing carriage returns, I can't see any other way for your
letters to be missing carriage returns. I suppose the wizard could be
corrupt, but then a Remove Office and Reinstall should have fixed it.
