SPI in Project 2000

Hello all,

I'm trying to calculate the SPI in Project. The columns for the BCWS
and the BCWP are present.
Furthermore, I insert a third column where I insert the formula
BCWS/BCWP. I select Number for the column with the formula. But still,
the result is 0, instead of the real number.

What else am I missing in order tot calculate properly the SPI?

Thanks in advance for your helpful replies.

How are you "inserting the formula"? You need to customize the selected
field and enter a valid formula, something like:
[BCWS]/[BCWP]
Project does not work like excel and you can't put formulas in cells.
But why are you doing this at all?
Project 2002 and later have an SPI field that you can display which already
calculates this.

Hello Jack ( and anybody else with suggestions,

Could you please tell me then how I can get a field in MSP 2000 to
calculate the SPI. It's momentarily not foreseen to migrate to MSP
2002.

Thanks in advance.

Stevie,

I think I did.
You need to enter the formula correctly - exactly like this:

[BCWS]/[BCWP]

in a spare user defined field.

Step by step:
From insert menu select column
pick the text10 field (if it is not already used)
click OK
Now rightclick on the text10 column header
select customize fields
click on the "formula" button
enter the formula above
At this point you can rename the field to SPI or do other things.
click OK.
