spinning ball of death and Excel - help ?

Hello

I have Mac os 10.2.8 and Excel X 10.1.5. I have just finished
running repair permissions and I still have the spinning ball of death
spinning in Excel.

I have a rather large spreasheet with 30,000 rows and 40 columns wide
... I want t copy all and paste into a new sheet on the same book-- and
the ball spins and spins ... It didn't use to do this .. it seems to
go into one of these 'loops'

When I run "Process Viewer" - Excel is sitting there taking all
available cpu capacity ...eventually I gove up and kill the process and
start over ...but this is beocming a worry and a pain

Can it be that there is some corrupt data on the spreadsheet?

Anyone have a solution? If so - oyu have my vote for 'man of the year'

Thanks for any help

Regards

Hello

as a followup -- I went over to a Windows machone and grabbed the data
( it sits on a windows PC but was made with my Mac ) and the copy and
insert into a new sheet -- no problem .... awhhh ... I hate it when a
windoze machines shows me up ...:)

So much for the corupted data theory.

So - what makes Excel go into that spinning ball mode?

ps - I have 832 mb of memory and I have "Memmory Stick" program - shows
lots of memory left
