Spirratic mouse activity

I have a Dell, with a microsoft wireless mouse. The pointer selects without
my controll, and opens other items whenever I am typing in word, email or any
program that requires imput from me. Help.

Also, it's either "erratic" or "sporadic" but I don't think "spirratic"
