Split Task Question

John M

I want to split a Gantt chart bar into 3 segments & decide when each segment
begins & ends. For example, segment one should begin 06/01/07 and end
06/08/07; segment two should begin 08/16/07 and end 08/23/07, and segment
three should begin 05/01/08 and end 06/20/08. (I don't want to define these
as different tasks requiring additional rows on the Gantt chart.)

Thanks to any Project genius who can help.

Right click on the task Gantt bar and select split. Repeat as necessary.
You can adjust the length of any portion of the task bar by dragging it.

Hi John,

In addition to Jim's suggestion you may also try manually entering work
in the Task Usage view for the specific dates you want. Project will
enter zeros on days in between the work period. I would zoom out to
show the appropriate detail to move the long distances and then zoom in
as needed for the specific dates. Use the Edit > Fill > Right command
to copy the hours through the longer periods.

I would have to question however why you are creating a task that will
span a year?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
