Splitting a task by less than a day

I have a task that is 5 days long, but I want the staff
member to stop half way through for a half day meeting. It
seems that I can only give it a full day split.

Does anyone know how I can shorten it to be a 0.5 day
split?

I have tried adjusting the values in the Task Usage and
Resource Usage views but all it makes the staff member
over-allocated.

Show Task usage with a timescale by the hour, and enter 0 during the meeting
hours.
