Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC I've run into what looks like a bug when using Format Axis to change the Number format. When I open the Format Axis dialog and click Number in the left column, I get the Spinning Pizza of Death for a couple minutes.
I've come up with a way to reproduce the problem:
1) Create a new spreadsheet
2) Enter two columns of data. First column header "X", second column header "Y". Put about ten numbers in each column
3) Select the two columns, click Chart, and create a Straight Marked Scatter chart.
4) Double-click a number on the horizontal axis to bring up the Format Axis dialog.
5) Select Number in the column on left
6) Uncheck "Linked to source"
7) Select "Number" in the Category list
8) Change decimal places to 1
9) Select Scale in column on left
10) Click OK
11) Double-click a number on the horizontal axis to bring up the Format Axis dialog.
12) Select Number in the column on left
At this point there is a long wait before Excel begins responding again.
Can anyone reproduce this problem?
