Spontaneously appearing hyperlink code

All of a sudden I'm seeing text formatted like this:

The cat sat on the mat. See {HYPERLINK
"http://web.yahoo.com/find/default.wl?
DB=1000546&DocName=FSGS3B1%2E2&FindType=L&AP=&mt=Missouri&fn=_
top&sv=Split&utid=%7b7340A2F6-4EEC-11D5-A99D-000102463493%7d&vr=2.0&rs=
WLW5.04" \t "_top"} And it was good.

I can make individual links go back to their correct appearance by right
clicking and choosing "select hyperlink" but there are many, many such
revealed links in my doct now and I want to be able to make them all go away
and, preferably, turn this off permanently.

Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to make it stop?

Thanks.

Solution:

To show or hide field codes for all fields in the document, press ALT+F9.

I have a question also. ALT+F9 shows all the hyperlinks, but I can only
delete one at a time. How can you delete hundreds of them at once? Is that
possible? Or can you disable all of them, so that it is easier to make
changes in the document?

Thanks,

Bob, I couldn't find a way to search for hyperlinks and delete them all.
Ctrl-H gets you to find and replace but "Special" had no way of locating a
hyperlink. Apparently, a hyperlink isn't a "field" for purposes of search
and replace.

I wouldn't think that a hyperlink, or zillions of them, would interfere with
editing. Does it/do they? I don't know how to disable a hyperlink and then
resurrect it. Sorry.
