spoolsv.exe causes increased CPU usage when file opened in Word 2000

Hi..
I have a brand new AMD 1.8 PC with Windows 2000 Pro
Workstation (fresh install) and Office 2k pro installed.
Whenever I open a certain file from a location on the
network in 'Word', the task manager reports increased CPU
usage fluctuating between 50% to 99%, slowing everything
down... and I notice the cursor 'twitches' on the screen,
and it doesn't stop until I close 'Word'. The funny
things is, I know that sending a print job to a network
printer will tax the CPU somewhat and only temporarily,
but I'm NOT printing anything here.. I'm merely opening
the document and the 'spoolsv' goes nuts! Disabling the
spoolsv makes the problem go away, but it also takes away
my ability to print anything. I thought it might be an
infected file, but have ascertained that it is not. The
file is definitely free of viruses and spyware. This only
seems to happen in 'Word' and no other app, as far as I
can tell. The printers are fine, and printing anything
else seems ok. Just in 'Word'. Could this be related to
the fact that the file is on a network? Would I need to
force my NIC to 10mbps or something? Opening the same
file on another PC works fine. And both systems are
running Office 2k Pro. So, any ideas?

Thanks
