Spoolsv.exe runs when I load a Word document

Every time I load a particular Word document, I takes 2
minutes to do so even though it is only 250 KB in size.
When I check the Task Manager, spoolsv.exe is sucking up
the CPU. Any idea why the print spooler would be running
when a Word document is loading? If so, how to I stop
this from happening?

Thanks for your help!

Word interrogates the printer driver in order to read the printer parameters
in order to be able to layout the document correctly for the printer
selected. You symptoms suggest you have a corrupt printer driver. Try
deleting the printer and reinstalling it.
